WordPress is a great tool for many projects. For our ready-made websites we still choose to write code, because it gives more speed, security and design freedom. Here is why.
WordPress sites often run many plugins and heavy theme code, which slows loading, especially on mobile. Our websites contain only what is needed: less code, fewer requests, a faster start. Speed matters to visitors and to search engines.
Plugins and the admin login are common attack targets, and every plugin must be updated constantly. Coded websites do not have a pile of third-party plugins, so the attack surface is smaller and there is less to update. Static parts have no admin panel that could be broken into.
A theme limits how a website can look. Our websites are built around the business from scratch: typography, colours, layout and animations are tailored to your brand, so the site does not look like everyone else’s.
WordPress needs constant theme, plugin and core updates. Our websites have fewer dependencies, so there is less work and less risk that something breaks after an update.
Pinned scenes, 3D, WebGL, scroll animations and smooth scrolling are usually hard to achieve in WordPress themes. With code we can build any effect while respecting the reduced-motion setting.
WordPress projects depend on theme and plugin licences. If you choose to buy, you receive a coded website with its source code and can develop it further.
Clean semantic structure, structured data (JSON-LD), a sitemap, robots, and keyboard and reduced-motion support are included from the start rather than added by plugins.
